May 26, 2007- A Shout Out to Abby and Sadie
photo

We'd like to introduce the world to two of our new pug friends, Abby and Sadie.  This bodacious duo could easily pose as our doubles in any of our international appearances for LOI International.  We think they're fab!

Abby and Sadie live with John Sorenson of Broadway Systems.  Thanks, John, for sharing the pic.

If anyone else would like to send us a note or photo, please do.  We bark with joy at any mail.  You can send it to inkyandsarge@laurenoriginals.com.

Ohio Pug Rescue is creating a 2008 calendar with pugs adopted from OPR.  One of our photos is online and ready to be voted for.  This is a copy of the photo so you'll know which one to vote for.  Votes are $1 each and tax deductible!  You can get to the calendar page direct here.

May 12, 2007- The "Alpha Bitch" Story
photo

Sarge:  A story from Sandra who is owned by two pugs named Huey and Jolie.  This dynamic duo is from the same litter (like me and Inky) and are 2 1/2 years old.  They live in Williamsburg, VA.

Inky:  Go Jolie!

You've heard of the alpha male ... at our house it's the alpha bitch -- Jolie the female pug over Huey the male pug.

This morning they both had beef rib bones (the only ones tough enough for a dog to safely chew on). Huey's bone was next to Jolie and she thought he was trying to take hers (well, maybe he was). He outweighs Jolie by about 50% and is extremely strong, while Jolie is small and delicate.

Jolie started a deep-throated growl and then she went for him and bit him on the cheek (not very hard).

Huey turned his head to the side and averted his gaze, then backed away.

I think I heard Jolie mutter "I am woman. Hear me roar."

May 9, 2007- Inky and Sarge health updates

Inky:  My arthritis seems to have gotten better with the change in weather and after a treatment of steroids.  I feel best when I can sprawl out in a sunny spot.  Though I still hobble around, I still claim my space in the pecking order in the household.

Sarge: I'm starting to get around with a bit of vision.  The winter was a very scary time with two eye surgeries a few weeks apart and then ending up in the doggy hospital with a collapsed trachea after the second one. Two nights away from home in an oxygen chamber was the darkest time.  I still have to have several drops in  my eyes a couple times a day and take steriods--- which makes me really hungry.
